Consultation preview: He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission and SBC

We are proud to invite SBC members and CLC Signatories to an online event with He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission about their upcoming consultation on three pieces of draft advice regarding Aotearoa New Zealand’s emissions reduction target and emissions budgets:

• Advice for the fourth emissions budget period (2036–2040), and potential revision of emissions budgets one, two, and three,
• a review of whether emissions from international shipping and aviation should be included in the emissions reduction target,
• and the inaugural five-yearly review of the emissions reduction target. This event is an opportunity to hear from Climate Change Commission Chief Executive, Jo Hendy, and Commission staff, including information about how you can contribute.

This event is an opportunity to hear from Climate Change Commission Chief Executive, Jo Hendy, and Commission staff about the process they have taken to develop these three pieces of draft advice and a preview of the eight-week consultation being held from 8 April to 31 May. This will include information about how you can contribute, an early look at the many events lined up and answers for any questions you may have.

The purpose of these three pieces of advice is to help chart the path to a low emissions future but the Commission needs your input to ensure the advice is robust and reflects the lived experiences of people all across Aotearoa New Zealand. We hope you can come along to learn more about how to make your voice heard.
